Guide to Yoga Classes

What is Iyengar Yoga?:Iyengar yoga is one of the most popular yoga styles taught in the U.S., Iyengar approach to Hatha Yoga combines classical soft yoga with strength, stamina, flexibility and correct body alignment. This method creates the most impact upon bones to stabilize and align the pelvis and spine. Props facilitate movement and gain comfort and confidence. We provide many props such as blankets, bolsters, belts, and foam blocks to allow the body to feel supported and release stiffness and tension.

Introduction / Fundamentals of Yoga: Set your intention to learn a new skill that will change your life! Expert instruction and use Yoga "props" make Yoga accessible and fun for all bodies!

Level 1 Yoga: This yoga class is for new and continuing students. Focus on standing postures to bring elasticity to joints and muscles; build stamina and stability, introduces forward bends and shoulder balance. Choose gentle/restorative if you have auto/immune illness or are weak, sad, or tired.

Level 1-2 Yoga: An ideal yoga class for students with some experience and healthy new students. Introduces arm balance, abdominal/lumbar poses; challenges of backbends, inversions and other poses. Vigorous and strength building. No injuries please.

Level 2-3 Yoga:This yoga class is for the experienced student. Explore the depth of poses in inversions, back bends, and advancing yoga postures.

Special Focus Yoga Classes: These yoga classes work with neurological and autoimmune illnesses. It is the choice for chronic pain for fibromyalgia, arthritis, Parkinson’s Disease, Depression, Cancer, or any time you need lots of support and nurturing. Avoid attending if pain is acute. Must be able to walk and rise off the floor.

Restorative/Therapeutic Yoga: Yoga to relax and distress. Aids chronic pain, especially therapeutic for people recovering from illness or life transitions. Focus on modalities that soften, strengthen and stabilize challenges in our bodies. We customize sequences for back pain, neck pain, hip problems, sinus, and all common health ailments.

Level 1/Restorative Yoga Classes: These yoga classes combine gentle stretching poses that release tension and stress, coupled with poses that strengthen the skeletal-muscular system to enhance overall health.

YogaFun classes for kids and familiesare a great way to introduce yoga in a fun, kid-friendly way while building strength, agility, and skills for relaxation and concentration. We play yoga games, read stories and poems, complete yoga obstacle courses, and dance our way through themed classes..

Gentle Level 1 offers a soft approach to Yoga, quieting the mind with pranayama and meditation, opening the body with a slow paced practice; to build body awareness, strength, alignment and stability.

Yoga Teachers Training Program: Certified with Yoga Alliance Ongoing Programs and licensed supervised by the Kansas State Board of Regents.
